To arrange a Funeral
To arrange a Funeral or Wedding please contact the Parish Church most closely connected to your loved one in the first instance - see below. If you are unable to make prompt contact for any reason we also have this Funerals Helpline, 07434 613136. We undertake to find a suitably qualified minister to take any service requested by the Helpline - see further below.
A Service in the Church or at the Crematorium
Funeral arrangements are never easy to prepare for and are often hard to even talk about. This challenging but necessary task is even harder in the present circumstances, brought about by the coronavirus and the adjustments we have all been making. As always, a Church of England funeral is available to everyone, giving support before, during and after the service, for as long as it’s needed.
We are always here to help through life’s most difficult time, and to help plan the service you want, reflecting the life of your loved one, celebrating her or him as they and you would wish - very simply or more lengthily. This can be either in church at the Crematorium. Our churches are all available for all the usual services, even if numbers have to be limited at the moment (up to 30 for a funeral, depending on the size of building).
During these times in many ways it has become easier to speak to local vicars, priests and ministers and we want to assure people that a Church of England funeral remains available to all.
Naturally there are Covid-19 rules and regulations all celebrants have to stick to, but we are committed to being as flexible as we can and above all providing people with the support they need.

Booking a Celebrant
All our churches would be glad to arrange with you a suitable funeral memorial service. You can find a list of churches by clicking here.
If you are unable to contact anyone, you can ring our Helpline on 07434 613136. Someone will seek to answer 9am-6pm (Voicemail at other times and occasionally daytime.) We undertake to return Voicemail messages within 2 hours. Please indicate if you have any preference as to who takes the service.
For funerals in crematoria and woodland burial sites we would expect to accept the date and time you have arranged and confirm who will lead the ceremony with you within 24 hours of your call. For funerals in church we need first to check if the church is available, which we would do as soon as possible, and then contact you as to availability.
You can find out which parish you are in by visiting https://www.achurchnearyou.com.
All our Ministers are fully trained – either as part of their original training to become priests, or as dedicated Funeral Ministers. Their ministry is also monitored with regular reviews.
You can download a local leaflet by clicking here though please note the leaflet was prepared before the present crisis.
Our fees are set nationally and are competitive with other Celebrants.
